Ben Bickford

Art Technician + 3D Rendering Service

Fine Art graduate from Chelsea College of Art and Design with over 15 years experience working as an art technician / art handler. My career began in 2008 and since then I have worked with leading international artists, collectors, galleries, institutions , art logistical firms and private clients.

I am skilled in the handling, packaging, storage, conservation, installation and pest prevention of Contemporary + Historical artworks and antiques.

My previous role before deciding to go freelance was as Senior Technician with the London studio of Science (Uk) LTD (Damien Hirst production company)

In this role I was responsible for supervising and organising a team of five technicians to meet the demands of all London based Science/Damien Hirst operations. This Included co managing two art storage locations, facilitating client viewings in various locations across London, condition checking of art works leaving from/returning to the studio and installing art works in galleries, museums and clients homes.

With the opening of Newport Street Gallery in 2015 I became heavily involved with the planning and execution of the install and de-install of the exhibition program, which draws from Damien Hirsts private collection – MurderMe. Shortly before departing Science I was the lead technician in show changes, managing my own team and external workers to realise projects on a tight deadline.

Prior to joining Science I worked as an art technician with a small art handling company, as an exhibitions assistant at Serpentine Gallery and a gallery assistant at Wilkisnon Gallery and Raven Row.
